Great Britain’s men’s team defeated Ireland, while their women’s team lost to the USA.

Great Britain’s men’s team secured a 3-0 victory over Ireland in the Pro League on Thursday, marking their second win against Ireland in six days. In contrast, Great Britain’s women’s team suffered a loss to the USA. However, Ireland’s women’s team advanced to the semi-finals of the Nations Cup with a win over South Korea.

During the men’s game, Ireland fell 2-0 behind by the end of the first quarter, as Sam Ward and Phil Roper scored for Great Britain from penalty corners. Ward added another goal in the 22nd minute, further extending Great Britain’s lead. Although Ireland came close to scoring, Peter McKibbin’s shot deflected off his captain Sean Murray’s head.

This match concluded Ireland’s Pro League season, with the team finishing in last place. Despite this, Ireland captain Murray expressed determination to enhance their performance before the Olympics and the Paris Games.

Great Britain currently holds sixth place with 16 points from eight matches. Both the men’s and women’s teams are scheduled to face Australia and India in their upcoming games on Saturday and Sunday.
